Leon Mensch,
Award-Winning Author Leon Mensch lives in Kasilof, Alaska with his wife, Beth, and 22 sled dogs. He and his wife, along with Mickey, moved to Alaska from Vermont in 2011, looking for an adventure and to pursue Leon’s passion for dog sledding. Leon gained invaluable mushing experience his first few winters in Alaska, working with several Iditarod mushers before he and his wife opened Winds of Time Kennel in January 2014, with their first nine sled dogs.
In addition to spending as much time as possible with his dogs, both on and off the trail, Leon strives to be self-reliant by cutting firewood, fishing and tending his large vegetable garden. Leon and Beth are also co-owners of a small commercial peony farm. Leon’s first book, Me-Now: The Adventures of Mickey the Mushing Cat, was inspired by Mickey, a rescue cat with a wonderful loving personality and adventurous soul, the sled dogs, and his love of being on the trail with the dogs. Winner of the 1st Place, Gold Award, in the national 2020 Moonbeam Children Book Awards! Readers young and old are sure to love Me Now: The Adventures of Mickey the Mushing Cat released February 2020. |
